  • Introduction & Education

My academic and professional journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree, achieved Summa Cum Laude from Temple University in 2007, culminating in a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2010. My undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation instilled a holistic therapy approach that transcends physical abilities, integrating comprehensive perspectives for optimal change and enhanced quality of life. I was working as CTRS in Philadelphia post undergraduate, at top ranked national rehabilitation facility while attending DPT school at Temple University. I completed my final clinical internships in Las Vegas, they both offered me jobs, I never left. My family has since moved here and Las Vegas community is now part of my existence.

My professional journey began with a financial challenge: my first paycheck equalled the amount of my monthly student loan payment. This drove me to explore additional employment and find a passion in home health care, where I identified and filled a gap in quality services with my team. In 2011, I founded a contract therapy business that quickly set a new standard for care for the industry. By October 2022, my path led me to establish a consulting business, initially focused on assisting home health agencies with the intricacies of Value-Based Purchasing. However, my ambition grew to encompass a broader vision of change management and advocacy for vulnerable populations, especially those aging with dementia.

Transitioning from a hands-on clinician to a strategic consultant, I honed my capacity to guide clients through complex changes. This approach is underpinned by the R.O.A.R Model of Change Management:

Respect: Each interaction is an opportunity to acknowledge and uplift the personal and professional stories of those I meet.

Open-mindedness: I value a rich diversity of ideas, knowing that innovation springs from our shared wisdom.

Authenticity: I believe in authentic connections, where integrity is not just expected but inherent in every conversation.

Readiness for Change: I embrace each new challenge with the agility to evolve, fostering growth for my clients.

Leading with the fearless heart of a lion, my application of the R.O.A.R Model is not just a method but a reflection of my deep commitment to healthcare transformation—a roar felt in every endeavor, resonating with purpose and passion. Together, we do more than adapt to change-we seize it- shaping a narrative of continual progress and innovation.

Drawing upon my youthful nickname, "Data," I blend a knack for data analytics with deep healthcare insights to craft algorithms that revolutionize patient care. My dedication to the elderly is driven by a powerful mix of empathy and expertise, ensuring that the care we provide is as intellectually robust as it is emotionally resonant.

    Advocacy

As a home health provider, I've been granted a rare glimpse into the lives of those I serve, witnessing their day-to-day challenges and sharing in their joys and sorrows. Among the many souls I’ve had the honor of meeting, Gwen’s story remains etched in my heart—a poignant reminder of why I do what I do.

Gwen, an endearing lady with sparkling eyes that told vibrant stories. Each visit not only allowed me to tend to her physical needs but also to safeguard her well-being in a way I hadn't anticipated.

One afternoon, as I approached her house, the unexpected sight of a pizza delivery man awaiting payment caught my attention. The scene didn't sit right with me. Gwen was visibly upset saying she did not order pizza. A closer listen revealed a persistent voice on the phone—a voice that sent alarm bells ringing in my mind. With a sinking feeling, I recognized the scam, when he said she won the lottery and had her lottery winnings waiting. I intervened just in time to prevent her from handing over a blank check to what turned out to be a scam artist, using a local pizza company (saying the individual would pay cash upon delivery).

Due to Gwen’s dementia, her recollections of people and their intentions were often hazy. To help her, I brought her a journal to jot down essential reminders. Together, we filed an FBI complaint, and for a brief moment, it seemed victory was ours as calls labeled “Scam Likely” began to appear, a signal she rightly interpreted as a warning.

But the predators are many, and the next one wore the disguise of a health insurance marketer. Through deceptive charm, convinced Gwen to switch her health insurance during a call she believed was with her trusted provider. As I scrambled to rectify this, fighting through red tape and indifference, I found myself on the phone with someone who refused to see Gwen as anything more than a commission. I remember telling them, “One day, when someone you love is in Gwen’s shoes, you’ll remember this call, and you’ll regret this heartless decision.”

The change in her insurance caused a domino effect, threatening to dismantle the support system that allowed her to live independently with her beloved dog. Despite my efforts and advocacy, the insurance company stood firm. Gwen's health and independence were on the line.

In this dire moment, I made a promise to Gwen—a promise that extended beyond the professional; it was deeply personal. I assured her that if she had to move into a facility for better care, my family would open our home and hearts to her beloved Apollo.

With some coordination, her out-of-state family stepped in, assisting with the transition and managing her finances. It was only after Gwen was safe that I discovered the full extent of the initial scam—this individual had swindled over $25,000 from her.

As I sorted through Gwen’s papers, tears welled up in my eyes at the sight of an unsigned fraudulent power of attorney. It was a chilling reminder of how close Gwen had come to losing everything.

Through Gwen’s ordeal, I've been awakened to a silent epidemic affecting our most vulnerable—the elderly who cannot navigate the digital world, who are unable to advocate for themselves, and who are so often forgotten. Gwen’s story fuels my mission to amplify this issue and seek protections for seniors from the ever-growing threat of fraud and abuse.

Today, I carry Gwen's story as a torch, casting light on the shadows where predators lurk, determined to be a voice for her and the many seniors who are facing similar battles. My mission is now to find ways to shield this susceptible population and ensure they can live their golden years with dignity and safety. Gwen may no longer be my patient, but her legacy drives me to champion this cause for all seniors, and it is a mission I embrace with every fiber of my being.

My efforts extend beyond direct healthcare, reaching into realms of advocacy, education, and protective initiatives alongside respected figures in senior services. This work, especially within the scope of Waste, Fraud, and Abuse (WFA) prevention, involves precise investigative techniques to identify fraudulent activities, understand their methodologies, and develop preventative measures. I've adopted advanced tools for problem-solving and critical analysis. These endeavors in healthcare and business have not only honed my skills but have also instilled in me an unwavering commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality.
